Pastor Who Canceled Quran-Burning Wins Car; NJ Car Dealer Offered Him a Car to Cancel Plan

The Yahoo News website reports today (October 15, 2010) that the antics of Terry Jones -- the Christian fundamentalist preacher in Florida who threatened to hold a Quran-burning ceremony on 9/11/10 -- are beginning to look more like a real-life episode of "Let's Make a Deal."

In the days leading to this year's 9/11 anniversary, a New Jersey car dealer named Brad Benson made Jones a peculiar offer: Call off the Quran-burning in exchange for a new car.

Although Jones eventually canceled his plan, Benson did not really expect the minister to take him up on the offer.

After some deliberation, Benson decided to stay true to his word and hand over a 2011 Hyundai Accent, which retails for $14,200. The pastor will have to travel to South Brunswick, NJ to claim it at the dealership.

Jones said he plans to donate the car to an organization that helps abused Muslim women.
