Poland Building World's Largest Jesus Statue; To Be Finished Next Month in Town of Swiebodzin

The small Polish town of Swiebodzin -- located near the German border -- will soon be home to a 33-meter statue of Christ, which will be the largest Jesus statue in the world, according to the Telegraph (British) website.

Due to be completed in November 2010, the statue is being erected to show gratitude to God.

The massive statue is also expected to encourage many tourists to visit Swiebodzin year-round.

With construction nearing the end, engineers face the hazardous task of lifting the figure's huge head and shoulders into place. This may require the use of a helicopter.
