Tillerson Warns Pakistan Not to Support Taliban; Trump Had Hit Pakistan for Harboring Militants

U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson got a cool welcome from leaders in Pakistan today (October 24, 2017), as a result of Washington recently accusing Islamabad of providing "safe havens" for Taliban militants, according to the AFP (Agence France-Presse) website.

Tillerson's visit comes after U.S. President Donald Trump accused Islamabad in August of harboring "agents of chaos" who could attack U.S.-led NATO forces in neighboring Afghanistan.

Pakistan -- a predominantly Muslim nation -- hit back at Trump's claims, insisting it has lost thousands of lives and spent billions in fighting Islamic extremism.

As one of 16 "Non-NATO Major Allies," Pakistan benefits from billions of dollars in U.S. aid each year and has access to advanced U.S. military technology banned from other countries.
