Syria Tells Turkey to Rid Its Troops from Nation; Says Troop Presence Violates International Law

Syria demanded yesterday that Turkish troops who entered northwestern Syria leave immediately, saying their presence constituted a "flagrant aggression," the Reuters website reports today (October 15, 2017).

The Foreign Ministry statement said the entry of Turkish military vehicles into rebel-held northwest Syria on October 12 was a violation of international law.

Turked says it is operating alongside Syrian rebel groups to reduce the fighting between insurgents.

But Syria rejects this Turkish excuse and insists that "the Turkish aggression" is a violation of international law.
