Qatar Accused of Transporting IS Mil. to Libya; Arabs Claim Qatar Provides Financial Aid to IS

Arab media accused Qatar this week of helping to transport Islamic State (IS) militants from Syria and Iraq to the south of Libya, the VOA News website reports today (October 27, 2017).

The allegations were the latest in a series made against the Gulf emirate by a coalition of countries, including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Bahrain, and United Arab Emirates.

The coalition imposed sanctions against Qatar in June for supporting terrorists.

Leon Panetta, a former U.S. defense secretary and CIA director, also said this week that Qatar has a history of supporting terrorism. "We know they've provided support -- financial support -- for the Muslim Brotherhood, for terrorism, for Hamas, for elements of al-Qaida, the Taliban."
