TX Women Having Abortions Face Death Penalty; Bill Designed to Protect the Life of Unborn Child

Women who have abortions could be charged with homicide and face the death penalty in a new bill being proposed in Texas, the Mirror (British) website reports today (April 11, 2019).

The "Abolition of Abortion in Texas Act," introduced by Republican Rep. Tony Tinderholt in January, is to "protect the rights of an unborn child."

Nearly 500 people testified in support of the legislation, while 54 people testified against it.

The proposed bill would ban abortion at any stage of pregnancy and would criminalize women who have abortions as well as physicians who perform them.
