Spencer Cullom, 29, will be graduating from Duke University Divinity School next month, but she will not be allowed to become ordained in the United Methodist Church -- as she had hoped to do -- because she is a lesbian, the Religion News website reports today (April 25, 2015).
The United Methodist Book of Discipline bars "self-avowed practicing homosexuals" from being ordained.
It also calls the "practice of homosexuality... incompatible with Christian teaching."
Unfortunately, Cullom -- a life-long United Methodist Church worshipper -- refuses to change her lesbian lifestyle, and the United Methodist Church refuses to ordain homosexuals; consequently, Cullom is not sure of what path her career will take after she graduates from Duke Divinity School next month.
