In the wake of last month's massacre in Christchurch, New Zealand, Australia has passed a sweeping new law to stop the spread of violent content online, the CNN website reports today (April 4, 2019).
Under the new law, internet companies such as Facebook and Google will be compelled to stop the spread of violent material.
If they don't, executives could face serious fines or jail terms.
The Christchurch suspect live streamed a large portion of the attack online on Facebook.
