The United Nations has told Israel it is not happy with homes it is demolishing in the Jordan valley, the Big News Network reports today (February 1, 2014).
Israel was censured this week by the UN after 36 Palestinian homes were knocked over, leaving 66 Palestinians -- including 36 children -- displaced in the Jordan Valley community of Ain al-Hilweh.
James Rawley -- the UN humanitarian coordinator in the occupied Palestinian territories -- released a statement yesterday calling for a halt to the "ongoing displacement and dispossession of Palestinians."
He said the number of structures being demolished along the Jordan Valley had more than doubled in the last year, depriving Palestinians of access to shelter and basic services. Rawley added that it was also in violation of international law.
