Woman Hurt by Car Demands Driver Be Paralyzed; Demand Agrees with 1750 BC Code of Hammurabi

A young woman in Saudi Arabia -- who was recently paralyzed in an auto accident -- says she wants a court to sentence the careless driver to the loss of his ability to walk as well, the Big News Network website reports today (January 27, 2013).

The woman -- who was injured on her honeymoon -- has refused monetary compensation and is demanding retributive justice in the form of the motorist being paralyzed.

The driver was convicted of reckless driving and speeding. His offers of financial compensation have been rejected by the woman, so that he may lose his ability to walk instead. A judge in a court in the Saudi city of Jeddah has postponed his sentencing to give both sides a chance to strike a deal.

The woman's demand that the reckless driver -- whose car paralyzed her -- also be paralyzed as his punishment, brings back historical memories of the Babylonian King Hammurabi and the famous 1750 BC Code of Hammurabi, with its "Eye for an Eye" and "Tooth for a Tooth" likeness in kind form of justice.
