Medical examiners performed an autopsy on the body of poisoned lotto winner Urooj Khan today (January 19, 2013), in an effort to determine whether the Chicago man swallowed, inhaled, or was injected the cyanide that killed him, according to the Daily Beast website.
Khan -- a 46-year-old Indian immigrant -- died suddenly last July, shortly after winning Illinois' million-dollar lottery jackpot.
It took about two hours this morning to remove Khan's body which was -- in the Muslim tradition -- wrapped in a shroud in a wooden coffin inside a cement vault. Results of the autopsy are not expected for at least two weeks.
Khan died without a will, just days before being scheduled to receive his lottery winnings. His widow and siblings have been fighting over his estate -- including the lottery check -- which has led to a court battle.
