Syrian Govt. Air Strikes Kill 19 in Idlib Province; Strike Syrian Rebels Seeking to Oust Pres. Assad

Air strikes by Syrian government or Russian jets killed 19 people in a village in Syria's rebel stronghold of Idlib today (December 20, 2017), according to the Euro News website.

The strikes pounded Maar Shureen in the northwestern Idlib province and injured 25 other people, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

The dead included seven children, the Observatory added.

Syrian rebels took control of Idlib province in 2015. It is now the only province fully under anti-government control, as the Syrian civil war -- now in its seventh year -- continues to be fought, in an effort to oust Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
