Some 20,000 Israelis Protest against Corruption; PM Netanyahu Investigated for Accepting Bribes

About 20,000 Israelis demonstrated in Tel Aviv today (December 2, 2017) against government corruption and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu who is under criminal investigation for accepting bribes, according to the Reuters website.

Today's demonstration was by far the largest of weekly anti-corruption protests sparked by corruption allegations against Netanyahu.

Netanyahu denies the allegations and describes himself as a victim of a political witch hunt.

If charged, he would be under heavy pressure to resign as prime minister, or he could call an election to test whether he still had a mandate to rule Israel.
