White House Police Officer Now on Admin. Leave; Told Other Officers He "Would Shoot First Lady"

The Washington Post website reports today (July 13, 2012) that a Washington, D.C. police officer -- who worked as a motorcycle escort for White House officials and other dignitaries -- has been placed on administrative duties, after he was overheard making threatening comments about first lady Michelle Obama.

The officer -- who has not been identified to the press -- made the comments on July 11, while several officers from the Special Operations Division discussed threats against the Obamas.

According to several police officers, the officer said he would shoot the first lady. Then,  he used his phone to show a picture of the firearm he said he would use.

A Secret Service spokesman said that the agency was conducting an investigation of the incident.
