Students Who Bullied Bus Monitor Are Suspended; Four 7th Graders Will Attend an Alternative School

The One News Now website reports today (July 1, 2012) that four seventh-grade students from upstate New York -- who were caught on video taunting a 68-year-old bus monitor -- have been suspended for a year.

The school system in the Rochester suburb of Greece, New York says it will suspend the middle school students from their school and from using regular bus transportation for a year for bullying Karen Klein.

The students will be transferred to a special alternative education program because the district is legally required to give them an education. Each student will also be required to complete 50 hours of community service with senior citizens.

A video posted online shows Klein ignoring a stream of profanity, insults, and threats from the students. Eventually, Klein breaks down in tears as a result of the bullying.
