Teens in Ukraine Are Charged with Hooliganism; Severely Damage Memorial to Holocaust Victims

The Religious Information Service of Ukraine website reports today (June 10, 2012) that three young men have been arrested in the northwestern Ukrainian city of Rivne for vandalizing a memorial to Holocaust victims there.

The memorial to 17,500 Jewish citizens of Rivne -- who were murdered during the Nazi occupation in the 1940s -- was severely damaged on June 5 by vandals who destroyed the tiles on the complex.

The arrested teenagers -- who are between 17 and 19 years old -- have been charged with hooliganism.

They face up to four years in jail if found guilty.
