Pentagon Hosts Its 1st "Gay Parade" Celebration; Obama: LGBTs Won't Serve as 2nd Class Citizens

The One News Now website reports that the Pentagon yesterday (June 26, 2012) hosted its very first "gay parade" celebration.

The celebration was held in the Pentagon auditorium. The speakers -- including both President Barack Obama and Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta (via video) -- told those in attendance about the "value of gay service."

President Obama said, "As we celebrate LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) Pride Month, we remember the activists and advocates who refused to be treated like second-class citizens.

Panetta added, "And now after repeal (of the military's 'don't ask, don't tell' policy), you can be proud of serving your country and be proud of who you are when in uniform."
