Muslim Imam Is Denied Bail in Fla. Terror Case; Accused of Sending $50,000 to Pakistani Taliban

The Salon website reports today (July 26, 2011) that a federal judge in Miami, Florida has rejected bail for a young Muslim cleric accused of providing financial support to the Pakistani Taliban terrorist group.

U.S. District Judge Adalberto Jordan cited a potential threat and flight risk in denying release on bail today for 24-year-old Izhar Khan.

Khan -- along with his brother and father -- is charged with providing material support to terrorists.

Prosecutors say the men funneled at least $50,000 to the Pakistani Taliban. They face up to 15 years on each of four charges.
