Two Migrants Die in Gas Blast on Lesbos Island; Migrants Respond with Fire, Burn Much of Camp

A woman and a child have died in an explosion at the Moria refugee camp on the Greek island of Lesbos, the Euro News website reports today (November 25, 2016).

According to local police, the blast was caused by gas as the woman was cooking.

Migrants started a fire after the explosion, burning a large part of the camp.

The past few months have seen several violent incidents at refugee camps on a number of Greek islands, where the number of migrants -- mostly from war-torn Syria and Iraq -- is more than double the capacity of the island camps.
