Russia lost its seat on the United Nations Human Rights Council yesterday, the UPI website reports today (October 29, 2016).
A vote taken at the UN represented the first time a permanent member had lost its seat on the 47-member UN Security Council since it was established in 2006.
The United States, United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, and China were all re-elected to their seats on the council, essentially unopposed.
Russia's recent inhumane action in Syria -- including its massive aerial bombing assault on civilians, hospitals, and schools in the rebel-controlled city of Aleppo -- is believed to be the major reason for its Human Rights Council ousting.
