MN Church Worker Stole Over $300K in a Decade; Raenay Hendrickson Took Extra Paychecks

A former Minneapolis church worker has admitted stealing more than $300,000 from her employer over the past decade by taking extra paychecks, the Christian Broadcast Network News website reports today (September 7, 2013).

Fifty-one-year-old Raenay Hendrickson of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota pleaded guilty to five counts of theft by swindle over $5,000.

Hendrickson worked for 16 years for the Minneapolis Area Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. The Hennepin County Attorney's office says Hendrickson had full access to the church's checking account.

Her embezzling dates back to at least 2002, and stopped only when she was fired in July 2012. Hendrickson is expected to receive one year and five months in prison when she is sentenced November 4. A judge will determine how much restitution she'll have to pay.
