Cardinal:"Manhattan Declaration Returns Home;" Laws Are "Toxic" When They Violate God's Plan

Four years after interfaith leaders issued the Manhattan Declaration, Christian leaders warned this week that traditional marriage, the sanctity of life, and religious freedom are all "severely threatened," the Christian Broadcast Network website reports today (September 26, 2013).

Laws become "toxic" when they violate God's plan to protect life from conception to natural death and marriage as the union of a man and a woman, New York Cardinal Timothy Dolan said, during a forum at Columbia University titled "The Manhattan Declaration Returns Home."

The four-year-old manifesto warns that Christians may be forced to practice civil disobedience by refusing to obey laws that force them to violate their faith.

"Boy, do we ever need God's help, because the forces allied against us are powerful, but He's a lot more powerful," Cardinal Dolan said.
