A Jacksonville, Florida man was indicted by a grand jury yesterday for allegedly training to participate in "violent armed conflict" with terrorists, the Creeping Sharia website reports today (July 19, 2013).
Shelton Thomas Bell, 19, a Muslim, has been charged with conspiring and attempting to provide material to support terrorists, according the office of Acting U.S. Attorney A. Lee Bentley III.
Between May-September 2012, Bell allegedly participated with Ansar Al-Sharia in "physical, firearms, and other training in preparation for armed conflict in the Middle East," the release detailed. According to the indictment, Bell also made videos and recruited juveniles to participate in what he called "the actions of jihad."
Bell is being held on a $200,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on August 1, 2013.
