Group of Attackers Assassinate President of Haiti; Shoot Him in His Home, Wound Wife at Midnight

Haitian President Jovenel Moise was assassinated  at his home today (July 7, 2021), and his wife was injured in the attack, the UPI website reports. 

Interim Prime Minister Claude Joseph said a group of armed attackers shot Moise and his wife after midnight at their home in Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti.

"The country's security situation is under the control of the National Police of Haiti and the Armed Forces of Haiti," Joseph said. "Democracy and the republic will win."
