Members of the Catholic Diocese of El Paso say they were in shock yesterday after a vandal destroyed a 90-year-old statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus outside St. Patrick's Cathedral, the Washington Times website reports today (September 16, 2020).
"I am in shock and we at the Cathedral are heartbroken over such an unexpected situation," Father Trini Fuentes said.
The vandalism continues a trend by vandals since May of targeting Christians and their symbology across the U.S.
