Transit systems, schools, and other public facilities in New York could soon become much dirtier because of a policy change enacted by the Trump administration that will strip millions of dollars in coronavirus aid for the state, the NY Daily News website reports today (September 3, 2020).
It's a gut punch no one saw coming, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) said today.
Since the outset of the pandemic, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has helped New York and other states cover the costs of coronavirus-fighting efforts.
But FEMA now says, "These are not immediate actions necessary to protect public health and safety."
