Tunisian officials said today (May 10, 2019) that a boat carrying 70 migrants from sub-Saharan Africa has sunk in the Mediterranean, leaving at least three people dead and dozens missing, according to the CBS News website.
The bodies of three people who drowned in the accident were found today, a spokesman for the Tunisian defense ministry said.
The boat left Zwara on the northwestern Libyan coast for Europe yesterday.
The United Nations immigration agency said 16 survivors had been pulled from the water by fishing boats.
