Alyssa Milano's recent call for women to go on a "sex strike" on men, as a protest over recent anti-abortion legislation in several states, has sparked an outcry from many corners, including women, the Yahoo website reports today (May 14, 2019).
"View" co-host Meghan McCain, who supports measures like Georgia's "heartbeat bill," slammed the actress for "telling women to use their bodies as a bargaining chip, [which] doesn't feel very feminist."
Meanwhile, many women have argued that abstinence would amount to, in the words of one critic, "bribing men for equal rights with access to our bodies," and have accused Milano of leaving out lesbian women.
Other women have mocked her proposal as being extreme, with some arguing that women also enjoy having sex, although not as much as men do.
