NY Man Nabbed for Trying to Join IS in Syria; Parveg Ahmed Faces 20-Year Prison Sentence

U.S. law enforcement officials were able to track down a young man from Queens, NY after he tried to enter Syria to join the Islamic State (IS) militant group, the Clarion Project website reports today (August 30, 2017).


Anti-terror experts had been following Parveg Ahmed, a 22-year-old Muslim native of Bangladesh.


Ahmed traveled to Jordan with an informant where he was arrested before he could enter Syria.


He faces 20 years in prison if convicted.
