After several days of violent protests, bloodshed, and a diplomatic crisis with Jordan over placement of metal detectors at the entrances to the Aqsa Mosque Compound in Jerusalem's Old City, the Israeli government today (July 25, 2017) removed the detectors, according to the NY times website.
The turnaround came after a day of intense discussions between the leaders of Israel and Jordan.
The Israeli Security Cabinet said it would replace the metal detectors with less-obtrusive security measures based on advanced technologies.
It is uncertain whether or not Muslims will begin to pray again in the temple, as a result of Israeli use of advanced technologies.
