Israeli Man Feasts New Year, Dies in Car Crash; Lost Control of Car Struck with Stones, Hit Pole

An Israeli man died today (September 14, 2015) hours after he was seriously wounded when a car he was driving came under an attack by rock-throwers in Jerusalem late last night, the Times of Israel website reports.

Two other people traveling in the car were lightly injured in the incident in the Arnona neighborhood of southeast Jerusalem.

Unknown assailants -- believed to be Palestinian residents of East Jerusalem -- reportedly attacked the car with stones, causing the driver to lose control, run into a ditch, and crash into a pole.

The three individuals were returning from a family dinner celebrating Rosh Hoshanah (the Jewish New Year), which began at sundown yesterday.
