Susan Sarandon Denied Clearance to White House; Govt. Taps Her Phone Due to Her Left-Wing Views

The Daily Mail website reports today (April 23, 2012) that Oscar-winning actress and left-wing activist Susan Sarandon said yesterday that she was recently denied security clearance to the White House and that the government has been tapping her phone.

She made the claims during a Q&A session at the Tribeca Film Festival -- an 11-day event in New York's Lower Manhattan.

Sarandon said she knew she was being watched by the government, because she had twice seen a file held on her through Freedom of Information requests.

Sarandon -- who was raised in a Roman Catholic family and graduated from Catholic University of America -- has been deemed troubling by the government due to her left-wing activism, which has spanned four decades. Most recently, she was forced to apologize for calling Pope Benedict XVI "a Nazi" last October.
