Report Opposes Women Drivers in Saudi Arabia; "There Would Be No Virgins" If Women Drove

The Asia News website reports today (December 2, 2011) that a new report states that allowing women to drive motor vehicles in Saudi Arabia would result in lesbianism, prostitution, and pornography -- and "there would no longer be any virgins" in the country.

These are the allegations contained in the report by the Majlis al-Ifta 'al-A'ali -- the largest religious organization in Saudi Arabia -- that was sent to all 150 members of the Shura Council (the legislative assembly).

The report is an assessment of the impact of lifting the ban on women drivers in Saudi Arabia -- the only country in the world to impose such a ban -- reviewed after a 34-year-old woman was sentenced to 10 lashes recently, because she was driving a car in Jeddah.

The "scientific" report -- as it has been called -- was drawn up in collaboration with Kamal Subhi, a former professor at King Fahd University.
