Bishop Eddie Long's Wife Files for Divorce in GA; Voids Divorce File One Day Later, Stays Married

A few hours after issuing a statement about her plans to divorce husband Bishop Eddie Long, Vanessa Long has withdrawn her petition to split from the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church preacher in Atlanta, Georgia, the Huffington Post website reports today (December 3, 2011).

Vanessa Long released a follow-up announcement yesterday afternoon, saying, "I love my husband. I believe him and admire his strength and courage. My filing (for divorce yesterday) followed years of attacks in the media that frustrated and overwhelmed me."

Last year, the infamously anti-gay preacher was accused by four men of coercing them into having sexual relations with him. Long settled the suits out of court last May.

Dabara Houson -- Long's previous wife -- filed for divorce in 1985 and accused Long of beating her while she was pregnant with their son, according to ABC News.
