Church Members Nab Suspected Copper Thieves; Two Charged with Vandalism, Theft, Conspiracy

Members of a Carmichael, California church that had been targeted by copper thieves for two nights in a row managed to help nab the suspected thieves when the pair returned for a third night, according to the Drudge Report website.

Church officials set up a baby monitor on top of the Carmichael Bible Church, hooked it up to a monitor and VCR, and took shifts watching it.

About 4:30 a.m. on December 2, the alleged thieves returned and Pastor Jeff Livingston was watching. He alerted other members of the church and called authorities.

Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies arrived shortly thereafter and arrested the pair, identified as Curtis Darnell, 36, and Howard Sanders, 26. Both have been charged with felony counts of vandalism, grand theft, and criminal conspiracy.
