Patriarch Kirill Visits Alexandrian Patriarch; Plans to Build Orthodox Churches in Africa

The Interfax-Religion website reports today (April 12, 2010) that Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia promises to develop Russian church mission on the African continent together with the Alexandrian Orthodox Church.

Patriarch Kirill said the Russian Orthodox Church is ready to send clerics to Africa and bear financial responsibility for building Russian churches, following a meeting in Alexandria with Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa.

The Russian Patriarch also offered Theodore II to send young students from both Greek diaspora and local natives to get education in Russian theological schools.

The Alexandrian Patriarch unites many nations in Africa under his patriarchal jurisdiction.
