Bosnian Serb Republic Parliament Seeks to Pass Law That Would Ban Female Cloaking Among Muslims

Prime Minister of the Bosnian Serb Republic. Milorad Dodik, said that the country will seek to pass a law that bans female cloaking prevalent among Muslim extreme believers, according to the Serbianna website. Dodik said that his political party will propose such a law today (April 8, 2010) in the Serb Republic parliament.

"Such a law has been adopted in several European countries, and we believe that we need to get closer to these European standards," Dodik said.

Earlier this year, France moved toward banning female cloaking, also known as burqa.

French President Sarkozy said the issue is one of woman's freedom and dignity, and does not have to do with religion.
