Editor of American Muslim Magazine Says U.S. School Books Portray Muslims as Terrorists

Since September 11, 2001, demonizing Muslims and Islam in the United States is not only more widespread, but also more mainstream and respectable. In short, Muslim-bashing has become socially acceptable in the United States, says Abdus Sattar Ghazali, Executive Editor of "American Muslim Perspective" magazine.

Ghazali said that a series of children's books -- titled "World of Islam" -- portrays Muslims as inherently violent and deserving suspicion.

He also claims that the 10-book series encourages young readers to believe Muslims are terrorists, who seek to undermine U.S. society, according to the Middle East Online website.

Nevertheless, the Foreign Policy Research Institute suggests that the books should be a mandatory purchase for all public libraries that support middle and high school curriculum on Islam.
