President Donald Trump threatened today (December 28, 2018) to "close the Southern Border entirely" if he doesn't receive the funding necessary for a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border, the Newsmax website reports.
His warning on Twitter came as a week-long partial government shutdown appeared likely to stretch into 2019 because of an impasse over funding for the president's proposed border wall.
Trump wrote: "We will be forced to close the Southern Border entirely if the Obstructionist Democrats do not give use the money to finish the Wall and also change the ridiculous immigration laws that our Country is saddled with. Hard to believe there was a Congress and President who would approve!"
Trump's latest ultimatum comes a day after House members said they didn't plan any votes this week.
