Russian President Vladimir Putin yesterday urged President Donald Trump to reconsider Washington's attempts to isolate Moscow, the Yahoo News website reports today (May 26, 2018).
The U.S. and its Western allies have increasingly sanctioned Russia in recent years in response to illicit interference in foreign affairs -- especially its illegal annexation of Ukraine's Crimean peninsula in 2014.
Putin said normal relations with the U.S. were essential to prevent military might from being the only deciding factor in settling international disputes.
Russia's seizing of Crimea has sparked a massive military buildup by countries located near Russia to enable them to defend themselves in the event of Russian aggression.
