The Syrian government today (September 19, 2016) declared its cease-fire over, just seven days after agreeing upon its terms, The Daily Beast website reports.
The government blames rebel groups in the country for undermining the agreement, which was brokered by the U.S. and Russia.
In a statement, the military said "armed terrorist groups" violated the short-lived agreement, using the opportunity to arm themselves and to attack government-controlled areas.
The rebels, the statement added, squandered their "real chance" to end the violence.
