The heart of St. Padre Pio is on display in Massachusetts all this week, marking the first time the religious relic has ever left its home in Italy, the Catholic Herald website reports today (September 22, 2016).
The Lowell Sun reported that the heart would be first made available for viewing on September 21 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Lowell, Mass.
St. Padre Pio was a Capuchin friar best known for possessing the Stigmata (wounds of Jesus Christ). He died in Foggia, Italy in 1968 and was canonized by St. John Paul II in 2002.
The public may also see the heart at locations in Boston and Braintree, Mass. this week.
