Ahmad Khan Rahami -- the 28-year-old man wanted by police for his suspected role in the bombing on September 17 in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan -- has been taken into custody, the Alternet website reports today (September 19, 2016).
Police had also linked the explosion the same day in Seaside Heights to Rahami, as well as two devices found in Elizabeth, New Jersey to Rahami. Twenty-nine people were injured in Chelsea.
Police say that Rahami was identified using surveillance video in Chelsea.
Rahami -- a naturalized American citizen originally from Afghanistan who lives in Elizabeth -- was wounded during the shootout with police in Linden, New Jersey. Two officers were also shot, one in the chest -- though spared serious injury by a bulletproof vest -- the other in the hand.
