Ex-Bergdahl Roommate Asserts He Was a Traitor; Obama Knew He Deserted Unit, Joined Taliban

The former roommate of Bowe Bergdahl -- the U.S. Army sergeant traded for five Taliban militants -- says the U.S. government knew very well that he was a traitor when they were making the controversial swap of terrorists, the Newsmax website reports today (June 21, 2014).

"They have all the documentation on it. The administration knew he deserted, they knew he wasn't a hero," retired Army Specialist Cody Full told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV. He added, "They knew he wasn't captured on a battlefield or lagged behind on a patrol. They knew he went out and deserted on his own."

Bergdahl was held captive in Afghanistan by the Taliban-aligned Haqqani network from June 2009 until May 2014.

He was traded for five high-ranking Taliban members who were being held at Guantanamo Bay -- a secret deal made by President Obama without the consultation and approval of Congress as required by law.
