Tornadoes Kill at Least 9 in Alabama, Georgia; Winds Up to 157 MPH Blast Winston County

 Parts of the southeastern  U.S. were reeling yesterday after extreme weather and tornadoes left a path of destruction across the region, killing at least nine people in Alabama and Georgia , the USA  Today website reports today (Jan. 14, 2023).


 The National Weather Service issued dozens of tornado watches and warnings across several states including Alabama and Georgia which received the brunt of the severe storms.


An EF2 -- a tornado with winds between 113 and 157 mph -- was confirmed in Winston County, Alabama, weather service forecasters in Birmingham said yesterday.
