Tex. Megachurch Has High Vote to Leave UMC; Protestant Denomination Is Viewed as "Broken"

A Texas megachurch has overwhelmingly voted to leave the United Methodist Church, believing that  the mainline Protestant denomination is a "broken Institution," the Christian Post website reports today (November 11, 2022).

.White's Chapel, a Southlake-based congregation, voted Nov. 7 to disaffiliate from the UMC, with 2,338 voting  in favor of leaving, 160 voting against, and seven members abstaining.

Pastors John McKellar and Todd Renner acknowledged that some members may be disappointed by the vote result. "Please know that you are welcome here and that you are loved here..." they stated.
