Russia became the first country today (August 11, 2020) to officially register a COVID-19 vaccine and declare it ready for use, according to the Newsy website.
Russian president Vladimir Putin said today one of his daughters has already received it.
Putin also said the vaccine underwent necessary tests and has proven effective.
Experts say rolling out vaccines without proper testing can create a false sense of security.
