Italy will shut down discos and clubs and make it compulsory to wear a mask outdoors in some areas at night in the first reimposition of restrictions as cases of coronavirus pick up across the country, mainly among young people, the Reuters website reports today (August 16, 2020).
New cases in the past week in Italy were more than double those registered three weeks ago, with most people aged below 40.
The new rules start tomorrow (August 17) and will run until early September.
Masks will be required between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. in areas close to bars and where gatherings are likely.
