Girl Scouts Face Inquiry by U.S. Cath. Bishops; Will Review Scouts' Ties with Anti-Cath. Groups

The Christian Broadcast Network website reports today (May 13, 2012) that the Girl Scouts of the USA are facing an official inquiry by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.

At issue are concerns about program materials that some Catholics find offensive, as well as assertions that the Scouts associate with groups espousing stances that conflict with church teaching.

The inquiry coincides with a broader effort by the bishops to analyze church ties with outside groups and counter a culture they consider increasingly hostile toward Catholic teaching.
