A woman was arrested yesterday after she climbed the Statue of Liberty to protest the Trump administration's immigration policies, the UPI website reports today (July 5, 2018).
Theresa Patricia Okoumou, 44, was part of a previous protest at the base of the Statue of Liberty, where several activists held a rally against Trump's immigration policies.
Okoumou walked to another part of the statue base where she climbed the statue.
NYPD Officer Brin Glacken said it took about three hours to convince Okoumou to come down. Officers arrested her and charged her with interfering with national park regulations, trespassing, and disorderly conduct.
